Glide along the water this summer and fall in our protected embayment with free public kayaking!

Presented in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse, free kayaking is offered throughout the summer on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons through September. All levels are welcome including first-time kayakers — life vests and all equipment provided, as well as instruction. Children under 18 must have an adult guardian present.

Advanced registration required, providing 20 minute timed slots. Free registration opens 2 weeks ahead of each date through the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse website. View all kayaking dates here.

Don’t see any available time slots? Check back! Registration opens on a rolling basis, 2 weeks ahead of each date. Occasionally, slots may open due to cancellations.

Hit the grass and push your body to new limits in this class that combines bodyweight strength and cardio, challenging both your energy systems and motor control. Led by Chelsea Piers Fitness, this free class is open to all levels and takes place at the Pier 2 Sports Turf at Brooklyn Bridge Park (behind the basketball courts). Classes run weekly on Wednesdays, May 1-September 25 from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

Advanced registration and waiver is required. Note, we are opening registration by the month (opens at start of the month for all classes that month). Cancellations are not required, but appreciated to give our instructors a head count!

Explore Brooklyn Bridge Park like never before during open hours at the Environmental Education Center.

The Environmental Education Center is open for free, drop-in hours at 99 Plymouth Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn! Get to know Brooklyn Bridge Park with monthly educational themes, a 250 gallon aquarium filled with critters from the East River, a 10’ scale model of Brooklyn Bridge Park, crafts, a reading corner, and much more.

Open Hours offer the opportunity for self-led investigation with guidance by expert educators to reveal the hidden stories found within and around Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Open weekly on Thursdays 3-5 PM, Fridays 3-5 PM, and Saturdays 1-5 PM. Closed on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and major holidays.

About the Envrionmental Education Center

Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s Environmental Education Center is a year-round space, located at 99 Plymouth Street in DUMBO.  It is the home base for our thriving education program which serves over 10,000 school children each year. The Environmental Education Center is open to families and park visitors on weekends and weekday afternoons during select Open Hours

Participate in Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s Environmental Education Programs to investigate the ecology, history and infrastructure of the Brooklyn Waterfront.

Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates and Brooklyn Bridge Park invite you to join us on Saturday, June 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Pier 3 Greenway Terrace for a free public celebration of the park and of MVVA’s new monograph. There will be signed copies of the book available for purchase thanks to Head Hi Bookshop, treats provided by Fornino and La Newyorkina, and guided tours led by the MVVA design team and the park horticulturalists who maintain this Brooklyn landmark.

This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited for tours. Please register for one of three time slots in advance.
