Shakuhachi is the Japanese end-blown bamboo flute. Originally played by monks of Zen Buddhism, the shakuhachi’s unique music has been passed down through the centuries in an unbroken tradition.

The Kyo Shin An Shakuhachi Ensemble is led by Grand Master James Nyoraku Schlefer, one of the most active performers and teachers in the United States. This concert will gather six-eight, NY-based shakuhachi artists to perform solo and ensemble music from the Japanese classic repertoire, creating a tranquil atmosphere for contemplation and relaxation.
