Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy Celebrates the Official Reopening and 6th Anniversary of the Environmental Education Center

September 16, 2021, Brooklyn, NY – Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy (Conservancy) will celebrate the official reopening and 6th Anniversary of the Environmental Education Center on Saturday, September 25 at 99 Plymouth Street in Brooklyn Bridge Park. This free, family-friendly afternoon features special birthday festivities inside the Education Center, as well as outdoor activities presented in collaboration with Billion Oyster Project, Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Bridge Parents, and New York State Department of Conservation.
Visitors are invited to explore unique educational exhibits and animals, and take part in a wide range of kid-friendly activities including crafts, a community art project using recycled materials, a mini photo booth, Park scavenger hunts, and more. Brooklyn Public Library will present a nature themed storytime at 2:30 PM at the Pebble Beach stairs.
This is a free, all-ages event and is open to the public with no advanced registration required.
The Environmental Education Center has been closed since the start of the pandemic and will reopen in a limited capacity for weekly Open Hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays (3:00-5:00pm) and Saturdays (1:00-5:00pm) starting Saturday, September 25 with COVID-19 protocols and safety measures enforced. “Throughout the pandemic, our environmental educators worked hard presenting creative outdoor and virtual programming for children and families to learn and explore,” said Nancy Webster, Executive Director of Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. “We look forward to reopening the Environmental Education Center on September 25 and welcoming the public to this festive celebration of the Center’s 6th Anniversary.”

We can’t wait to see old friends and welcome new ones!”

COVID-19 Safety Measures and Indoor Attendance Requirements
The Conservancy is committed to providing a safe environment for visitors to the Environmental Education Center and are following State, City, and CDC guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19, including the Mayoral Executive order: Key to NYC.
For the well-being of our community, we ask that anyone who exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19 or has recently come into contact with someone who had COVID-19, please stay home. Any participants who do not comply with safety requirements will be asked to leave the program.
Additional requirements are as follows:
- Participants and staff are required to wear masks at all times.
- All Environmental Education Center visitors ages 12 and older are required to provide proof that they have had at least one dose of the Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. Visitors who cannot provide proof of their vaccination upon arrival will not be permitted entry.
- Visitors will need to present valid ID matching the name on their proof of vaccination.
- One adult from each family unit must sign-in with their name, phone number, number in group, zip code, and signature. By signing, you are also attesting your group has self-certified for COVID symptoms.
- A maximum of 25 visitors are allowed in the Education Center at a time.
- The room will follow a one-in, one-out policy when at capacity. If demand is continually high, visitors may be subject to time-limits.
- Masks, gloves, hand sanitizer will be available onsite for participants.
Acceptable methods for providing proof of COVID-19 vaccination include:
- CDC Vaccination Card
- NYC Vaccination Record
- Excelsior Pass
- NYC COVID Safe App: Android | iOS
Valid ID includes your name and a photograph; for example:
- School I.D. card
- Driver’s license
- Government I.D. card
- IDNYC card
- Passport
