Special Event Permits

Reserve a court for the day, celebrate a birthday, host your marriage proposal, or gather for a corporate retreat at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

A special event permit is required for any group activity involving more than 20 people or a group activity involving less than 20 people for which specific space within the Park is requested to be reserved, casual Park use does not require a permit.

If you would like to propose a large-scale public event or public art installation, see below. Please note that private events, classes, or lessons where participation, tickets, or entrance fees are collected require special permissions.

Application Process

Special event permits are required for the following:

  • Any activity involving more than 20 people at one time. This includes school trips, picnics, and field days.
  • Any activity for which specific space within the Park (i.e. a sports field or court) is requested to be reserved, including for groups with less than 20 people at one time.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Your event is not confirmed until you have received a permit directly from Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Due to the nature of individual events, not all details can be addressed here. For all other questions about your special event, please submit your permit application for review.

School Trips or Field Days

  • School trips and field days are allowed for a maximum group size of 200 with 1 adult present for every 10 children.
  • Brooklyn Bridge Park does not have parking for school busses. Please plan for drop off and pick up only.
  • Insurance is required for schools outside of the New York City public school system.

Public, Ticketed, or Marketing Events

  • For large scale events, please use the contact us form below to submit a brief event proposal.
  • Total event fees will be determined after your application and proposal have been submitted and reviewed by park staff.
  • Submitting an application or event proposal does not guarantee approval. Your event is not officially confirmed until you have received a permit directly from Brooklyn Bridge Park.
  • All marketing, signage, advertising, and outreach for events must be approved by park staff prior to public release. Do not advertise events at Brooklyn Bridge Park without direct approval from Park staff.

This is NOT the permit application form. Please complete the below form if you have a question about a permit application you have already submitted, or if you have a question before submitting that is not answered elsewhere on our website.

  • THIS IS NOT THE PERMIT APPLICATION FORM. Permits are issued on a first come, first served basis. Submitting a permit application does not guarantee you will be granted a permit. Your application is not approved until you have received a permit from Brooklyn Bridge Park. Please check your spam folder for any communication if you have submitted your application and are awaiting confirmation.
  • Please indicate which type of permit you are interested in obtaining.
  • Please indicate the date of interest for your event. Please note that this is to help with planning only, dates cannot be confirmed until permit applications have been received and accepted. Permits are not issued on holidays or holiday weekends. Special event permits must be applied for at least 21 days in advance of the proposed event. Film/Photography permits are not issued on weekends or holidays. All wedding ceremony permit applications for the upcoming year will open on December 1st of the current year. It is not possible to place a hold on a date.

  • Please briefly describe your proposed event. Please note that decorations and set-up of an event must be approved by Brooklyn Bridge Park. Furniture (tables, chairs, hammocks, ect.) are not allowed in the Park. Cooking equipment (grills, sternos, etc.) cannot be brought into the Park. Decorations like chalk, confetti, powders, glitter, balloons, or any other similar substance cannot be used in the Park.
